Meredith faculty member Lisa Liske, with a Baroque back-up band – i.e. continuo group! – of Barbara Krumdieck (continuo cello), Salomé (SaSa) Sandoval (plucked instruments and voice), and Jennifer Streeter (harpsichord) have a February offering of rarely-heard early repertoire in their program Out of Italy: Baroque Music of the Cello Diaspora. In attending this performance, you will become acquainted with music written in the earliest days of the cello, when performers and composers were beginning to imagine what this still-new instrument might be capable of in addition to wonderful bass lines.
